Enneagram Type Seven (who i am)
Sevens are optimistic, forward looking, enthusiastic, and fast. Their life theme is happiness. Seven avoid reality and concentrate on all the positive possibilities, to which they are highly receptive. Sevens love the extravagant aspect of creation. They want everybody around them to feel OK; and they have a hard time saying no and setting clear boundaries for others.
Their tender spot is extravagance. “More is always better” is their motto; the affluent and fun-loving society is their favorite environment. They tend to overindulge in everything pleasant: they eat so much, work so hard, and take on so much that it becomes unpleasant.
The gifts of the Seven are cheerfulness and a holistic, innovative type of thinking, paired with a pragmatic sense of what can actually be realized and financed.
The life goal of a Seven is to enjoy life to the fullest and to help other people to do the same: “I want to increase the good things in life.”
One well known Seven is Peter Pan, the boy who does not want to grow up and lives in a dream world called Never Land. He can fly-a primal dream of a Seven looking for easy solutions. The comic character Gladstone Gander, with his boundless luck, also personifies one aspect of the Seven.
The symbolic country of the Seven is Ireland-cheery music, high alcohol consumption, and the habit of saying, “It could be worse!” This idea helped the Irish endure the poverty in their country until their uncomplicated optimism finally paved way to a European economic miracle in recent times.
The caricature of the Seven is a playful, cheery character (often with the curly hair of a child) who does not like to be tied down to any particular role. He reviews life as an opulent buffet from which he can ick at will without having to limit himself. In his job, too, he constantly needs changes and new stimulation, but he needs little sleep. There is far too much to discover!
