Today is the World AIDS Day, the day to raise awareness about the disease which has never ceased to kill people in different parts of the world. You probably could find this infection quite distant as HK got affected by drugs and alcohol in a relatively higher degree than foreign countries. And it seems there aren’t much you could do about it, but I personally have an experience which does not limit to AIDS. I studied in San Francisco before and that city carries one of the highest population of homosexual people and thus also implies one of the breeding place of AIDS. I once saw on a TV and a guy sat there saying that he was suffering from AIDS and was dying, but he is trying to be on screen because he wants to tell everyone he has AIDS, he is gay and all those people whom he had sexual relationship before to go test themselves. And my friend next to me stoned, he was terrified coz he was the guy’s partner before. From there onwards, I pacified my friend and accompanied him to the clinic for blood test and waiting for result. The process is not long, but it feels like ages for someone in fear. We can always help people around us by just giving them a pat on the shoulder, and something about AIDS reminds me of the leper or the prostitute in the old days of Bible, why? Coz they are the unwelcome crowd and where discrimination goes. Jesus always reaches out to the needy ones especially the super poor ones just like these people I mentioned. Just like how He visits Simon the leper when He was in Bethany. How amazing to learn that when in during those days, leper is being avoided but Jesus chooses to be with them.
Daily Quote
While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.
Mark 14:3
I pray to God that we all could be bias less and be daring more!
Postscript Quote
I believe those who promote discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or any other grounds are gravely mistaken about the values that make our nation strong. I will continue to move my administration in the direction of compassion and acceptance.
