Goodbye Chuck

I have not heard from Chuck Colson for a while as I subscribe to his commentary at Prison Fellowship and the Worldview a long time ago. Only on Sunday night at a radio channel I was tuning in to I heard the host giving her tribute to Chuck Colson hence I realize Chuck has passed away. Chuck is well known for being the hatchet of the President Nixon back in the 70s. I was drawn by his dedication for the people in the prison and soon after once I paid a visit to the people in prison here in HK, I don’t know how I stumbled upon Chuck’s website and sign up for his update thereafter. Getting close to prisoners is not easy not to mention physically there are a whole lot of barriers that prevent us from being physically accessible to this bunch of people, but more importantly these people have done things wrong and some have done super wrong things which a lot of people would not forgive and forget. I could recall during those time when I was sitting in front of these guys, they appear to be exactly the same as you and I, but their freedom is taken away. The most precious thing is taken away from them and it tells me that there is always a price for things we do. When situations seem bleak, God will be there for you, imagine when being locked inside a prison cell, how hopeful could one get? But it’s only God that can safe the desperate ones. When the prison mates were listening to how we preach about the Bible, when they listen attentively, you know there is a second chance given to these weak souls. I understand that because of this, Chuck has persisted and although now returned to the heavenly Father, He will continue to bless those guys behind bars.

she is the gem

My studio come across one great person yesterday, she is a prospect client seeking our help on her jewelry design’s branding. We thought she is just one of the typical affluent crowd who has a passion for designs and gems. But turned out she does things for a good cause. This gentle lady many years ago lost her beloved 12 years old son to the sea and from then onwards, she has decided that she wants to do charity work. She started her jewelry design and the amazing thing is hundred percent of the sales goes to charity! She does not even deduct anything for the cost of making her products, coz she simply wants to encourage charitable purchase and she wants to donate in a more creative manner. Up to date, she has been supporting a welfare group for nearly 15 years now and she was stunned that she literally is supporting 80,000 poor kids, and since she is given such statistics, she started to worry – she worries that if something happens to herself, what could happen to these poor children and thus she started to thinking how to market her products in a better way, and that is how we got together! She told us the incident of losing her child turns her around into realizing how fragile life is, and there is no time to waste and better make use of the earthly money she has accumulated with her husband to care for the needy ones. This amazing lady is a Buddhist and I just pray to God that this world disregarding race, culture, age, gender and religion – the common denominator is love. Again I have to emphasize, your attitude determines your altitude and God gives by taking things away from you.

lost and found

Our studio friend who is an art director and yoga enthusiast recently got his both eyes infected and have to be pretty motionless and rest up to recuperate his eyes. I was checking on him and hope he is doing alright, he told me he actually found this period quite enlightening coz since he can’t really see, he said he started to feel the pose and doing it with his heart more. From time to time, I thank God for taking things away from us, especially taking very important things away from us such as health, jobs, people, material things etc. because we never think of losing things that are currently critical from us, but when we lose them, we live another horizon and could contrarily feel the high side of it, as we are alive and would stand up on our own feet, coz God is behind. When you are backed with a great support, you don’t be afraid of what is in the front.

Fred, Rest-In-Peace

Just a moment ago, I got to know my very close friend’s father passed away in New Zealand. I was reading the announcement off the New Zealand Herald and realized how great her father is and much more about his good works and so much more about things he did I never know. He was a high-profile golf referee who officiated around the world. My friend never really expects her father to be going so soon although he was not in the perfect health lately. Life is so super fragile and all the time, there is not much we could do about it but relying on God. I just pray that when God takes something and someone away from our lives, He does not mean to attack or defeat us but wanting us to discover more about lives & ourselves. My pastor told me this verse which I would never forget which I am sharing with you. When you are down or hitting the lowest low, remember that will not continue – God will lift you up, His way but often NOT the way you thought you want coz that may not be the best. Something else is arranged by Him.

do you remember?

today marked the 2nd anniversary of the Sichuan Earthquake in China, during the period from that horrific disaster happened, there were actually many other natural disasters that happened, which i can’t name them all but remember a few sad ones such as the Haiti earthquake and the one we just had at Qinghai, not to mentioned there were numerous others. i was thinking there is gonna be so much we are going to learn through the loss of lives, loss of our treasures, loss of what we have achieved and what we think would be valuable from time to time! but what we would not lose is our faith in believing that we could somehow still survive the pain and get back up again on our feet to help the others and not only focus on what we own. The bigger love for the world and others will be our pillar of the world.

thanks mates for all of those who tried to pray for my mother who is still under hospitalization, but she is strong because of your blessings which will be heard by God, sincere thanks to you all.

you lose some, you win some

my studio was recently trying to get a photoshoot job from a key sports brand in Shanghai..we worked rather hard trying to get it as my Creative Director is a photographer from NYC and trying to break his name in mainland.. but we got to know we lost it last night (to a local photographer from China), of course we feel very disappointed..especially my CD…he really wants to get it (and i thought we would get it). and then we started to review what we lack, what is not there that makes us lose the job?! the more we review, the more we started to think we want to do to make him look better in whatever way we could! and thinking back, if in case we got lucky and got this photo job in China, we would never try to do anything to improve ourselves, and we got stuck further and feel more disappointed if the next time we lose something else, coz we got a big job the last time…it’s actually good that my team did not get what we want now, coz we can make things up at this very moment! So, stay positive and strive further as we gain things during the time we lose something
