brain train

I have always wanted to increase or improve memory and got attracted by a Harvard Business Review article on training your brain to focus – visit this to read further. Instead of the pretty normal and predictable suggestion such as eating well, sleep more and work out generously, it suggests us to stay positive coz an improved emotional balance will improve our performance. And there is a short quiz for you to measure your current positivity ratio: take the test by clicking here. It’s amazing how this article gels with God’s teaching – in Proverbs 23:7 it says: For as He thinks in his heart, so is he. If we truly believes God will carry His promise, then all things will work out ultimately. I love the saying I heard from a Christian radio channel in New York he says: God may not be early, but He is never late.

Daily Quote
God has begun a good work in me, and He is well able to bring it to full completion.

Philippians 1:6

I pray to God that I will wait, and wait and wait for God’s promises for me to come true. Coz He promises me.

grace or craze

I have been fans of the Commercial Radio 2 since I was small like those Charlie Brown characters, so it’s like decades of listening and I am still are, and HK radio program has transformed quite a bit from developing many different music programs evolving to a lot of phone-in programs and just radio hosts chatting about current news and headlines. Although I am not tuning in round the clock, the hosts I listen to always complain and complain especially about HK local news. Their tone are sarcastic and even patronizing. Yesterday they are commenting on the reclamation plan of HK as HK seems to plan to reclaim a few areas along the coast near the outlying islands, and the host commented by saying they don’t understand why HK does not reclaim a bigger area by adding all these smaller bits to become a larger space (come on – that would upset our ecosystem!) and their tone just makes them sound really normal and righteous. And they could make people feel quite annoyed by each decision HK politicians or officials make. They don’t even do research about things they say but influencing the HK public. I don’t mind people making constructive comments or motivating people to think of bigger ideas but HK people seem to be so accustomed in making negative comments and become angry about almost everything? Imagine if our people or kids are being fed negativism so subtley, who would they become in the future? In Battlefied of Mind’s podcast this morning, Joyce Meyer emphasizes some people just choose to fill themselves up with negative thoughts and they complain, mumble and feel that everyone is difficult. But we can turn things around if we stay thankful and grateful. These days I start my morning prayer thanking God for giving me one of the warmest place to sleep with my fleece blanket snuggling so comfortably, I cannot imagine those who are left in the street without any shelter, food, clothing and friends and family. Compare to those, how can I complain that I am not provided sufficiently. Look more deeply and you will see how much you have how much He has given you. Say grace!

Daily Quote
Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.

Isaiah 1: 16-17

I pray to God I will follow His words and thank Him all the time.

Our studio has recently met a new Aussie friend, Simon Roberts, who originated from one my favorite city in the world, Melbourne. Click here to visit his site. He is a business strategist and I was looking at his portfolio, and that just made me feel soo good coz almost all things he does is super positive. His personal website has a motto or tagline whatever you call it – The art of designing solutions that create happiness. He started the Positive Posters and has incessantly involved in different good cause campaign just to make the world we are living better. He does not just do things randomly, but he has focuses – he does ideation, social innovation and particularly believes in collaboration. His recent one is providing strategic consultancy to the The Salvation Army! God continuously shows me sign on how the world could be enhanced, improved and making the impact contagious. If we could just use our time or talents in positive ways like Simon Roberts, happiness will not be too far away! God bless Simon!

swim the new horizon

I came across a swim wear brand called Veronica Brett recently which the founder’s vision and mission is to make her customers feel beautiful! It’s such a generic and predictable brand idea for fashion. But this swimsuit brand specially makes swimsuit for women who has breast cancer and went through mastectomy (meaning surgical removal of one or both breasts).  The designer/founder herself and her sister and nieces all are survivors of breast cancer and personally feel the frustration of the market’s poor attention for these people’s needs. Their positivity, dedication to care for the others not only make them truly beautiful but also charismatic as they do not get immersed with their personal suffering but break away and look out for a bigger life and hoping to help pick people up who may not be as motivated. It’s very important that when we manage to get out of our personal rut that we also help people with similar problems coz no one would be as helpful as you are! Don’t be shy about your ability to help & to love.

Daily Quote
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:1-3

I pray to God that He inspires us through hardships and difficulties that He has arranged, as He never gives us more than we can bear.

multi-tasking love

mom is not well (her ear is not ok) and has been accepted to the hospital last night and my whole family is very concerned and running back and forth to take care of her. i think God has planned this out to make us treasure and cherish mom more than we could – God is stretching our limit to see how much more we could do at one very same single moment! one quite encouraging thing i also see is that when i tell my colleagues or good friends about this: believers and non-believers will respond saying “will pray for her”! Amen.

Daily Quote
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.

3 John 1:2

I pray that I will rely on God for strength, for protection, for provision and for shelter.

truthful saying

was reading a interview column of a nightclub owner in Central HK…she looked a bit different to me? she looked sooo ‘basic’ to me, no make up, plain outfit, unlike before…and when i read on – noticed that she got cancer stage four last march. she went through operation and undergoing chemo for treatment.  she says this which i like: “if you’re going to get cancer then you should live now.” this is always a tough question when we are being asked ” are you living your life?” i feel sad that someone will be soo determined to take away other people’s lives just like the Russian suicidal bombing incident that just happened.
Value your life while we still could.

Daily Quote

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.
And be
thankful.
Colossians 3:15

I pray to God that He could open up our eyes through the different things happening to us in different parts of the world.
