he knows

I received an email from my pastor last week with a subject line “How’s it going?” and I thought to myself, what would pastor ask? I thought he is following up on a church course earlier, coz I went once and did not go on and join further ( i was bad! ). As I read further, I realized he is asking if I would be interested to serve the Lord by being the usher/greeter at the Sunday service. I was astounded and starred at the email coz the other day, I was just reading in more details the service sheet what the week’s notices are and read that Church is recruiting for help in different areas, such as the band, the technician team and also the usher. I was thinking: the usher shouldn’t be too hard to do, and I am always on time coz getting to the church at 10.30am is a piece of cake for me. And even if it requires me to arrive earlier, that is still fine as sometimes I even go to the studio to work a bit before I head to the service. Plus it’s just once a month! Not bad – I think to myself and then – I put down the sheet!!!!!! And walked away doing something else. Then a few days later, I received my pastor’s email about the recruitment, thus I was stunned. God has a plan, and when He sees that you are nearly there, sometimes he would give you that little push or give you that hand in doing something. When you should not do something, you could actually hear that voice telling you not to, and it’s just a matter of second when you decide to do something. Pray to God when you are confused or unsure, step back and stay put, and just speak to Him for direction. We don’t have to be that quick, spend a while asking Him for clarity and you could move on and try things out.

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16

I pray to God that I will seek every moment and in everything for the strength to walk His path to do His will.

are you SIRIous

Everyday I exchanged numerous branding and website designs with colleagues looking into ways to improve our designs and getting inspirations. This so often inspire me exceedingly just beyond what I hope to focus and this happens again that we came across a very well designed website done by a non-profit organization called 826 Seattle (http://www.826seattle.org/) which offers drop in student tutoring dedicated to helping youth, ages 6 to 18, improve their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. One core concept driving the organization to thrive is their belief in one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. This whole initiative is super meaningful but difficult to achieve as time evolves that our society relies heavily on technology which cause the relationship of people to become more and more remote: there is Siri (iPhone 4S) which you can ‘speak’ to; there is auto-correct function when you write, there is voice command in many devices you use so you forget even how to spell Hello; you ‘group chat’ and thought you really have chatted with people and you only ‘whatsapp’ your mom and not calling her anymore. Living up to these ‘trends’, how can you sustain personal value and belief when things just drop on your head without you needing to fight or earn? Joyce Meyer in my morning podcast exclaimed and emphasized that if you only sit there and pray and pray and pray and ask God for something, you are not going to get it unless you move your muscle and work hard on it at the same time. Don’t grumble and murmur to God what you want, but get up to get what you want, if it’s right for you, God will give ya.

Daily Quote
Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith.

1 Thessalonians 3:9-11

I pray to God that I would not be lazy to get what I want and improve, but with His grace and love I will persist.

friend far away

I just received a mail from a good friend who is updating me his whereabout coz he has left Hong Kong for Yunnan, China for 2 years of volunteer work there! He has been a Theology subject lecturer at a university in HK, but he decided to expand his horizon further, he is picking up doing real work out there in China! This is not something simple at all. It’s terribly major. Quitting what he has, doing something on pure volunteer basis and doing it in China, for two years…all adding up makes me feel enormously moved and admiring his decision. I personally can’t do it but more than glad that more and more people i know are willing to share their own time for the need of others! I always believe, those who give ultimately receive the most. My friend cannot spend today’s special date with his family for the Mid Autumn Festival, but am sure he will still have a great time seeing so much out there with his generous heart.

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!

are they truly homeless?

just finished visiting the homeless at Tin Hau and Fortress Hill. it’s eye opening the experience, i saw around 7 of them, there were drug addicts, mentally unfit ones, very old ones, men from China…they are just so different and each has their very own stories and way of treating life. they trigger me to think further about life and what we could do for people. i have almost everything and what do they have? but some of them still are happy about their situations! it’s beyond what my mind can understand and comprehend.

Love life!
